Kate Middleton transferred to Marlborough College after a tough time at Downe House in 1996.

The all-girls boarding school, which was close to her home in Berkshire, saw Middleton being bullied by her peers. When the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents decided to send her to Marlborough College, one of the students, Gemma Williamson, said that Middleton looked thin and pale and had very low self-confidence.

Middleton’s house tutor, Joan Gall, also said that the mom of three suffered from eczema due to stress. When Prince William’s wife arrived in school, she was very quiet but she managed to settle into the big school quickly.

And even though the future Queen Consort had a tough time at Downe School, she never made a big deal out of it. She and parents simply wanted to move on from her bad experiences there.

Housemistress Ann Patching also said that Middleton managed to get involved in school life and loved sports and music. Kathryn Solari, Middleton’s classmate in biology, described the Duchess of Cambridge as sweet and lovely.

“She was a good girl and quite preppy – she always did the right thing – and she was very sporty. I wouldn’t say she was the brightest button, but she was very hardworking,” she told Daily Mail.

Some of the sports that Middleton played while she was in Marlborough College included tennis, swimming, high jump, netball, and hockey. Middleton’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, joined the same school later on an all-rounder scholarship.

According to Patching, Pippa was good at everything she did and was smarter than her older sister academically. However, Middleton never resented her for this.

Following her GCSEs, Middleton went on a school hockey trip to Argentina, and she came back after the long summer break as an absolute stunner. Every boy in school fancied Prince William’s wife.

“Pippa was a tomboy, but Kate had lost her braces and looked stunning. She was wearing makeup and looked amazing,” Denise Allford said.

Middleton also made it to the top of the boy’s “Fit List,” and this helped improve her confidence.
