  • Kelly Clarkson is open to dating again after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock
  • The singer-songwriter said she is not interested in tying the knot again
  • Clarkson insisted that she does not regret anything when it comes to her past relationships

Kelly Clarkson got candid about her new approach to relationships after divorcing ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

The 39-year-old singer-songwriter stopped by the “Love Someone With Delilah” podcast this week to talk about her Christmas album. But host Delilah Rene also asked about her life mid-divorce in relation to her single “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),” which talks about someone who is celebrating the holidays after a breakup.

“I regret nothing. I feel like that’s what shapes you. It makes you a better person,” Clarkson told the podcast host of her past relationships. “It’s what makes you recognize, ‘OK, I missed those red flags. I missed that or I ignored that on purpose.’”

Clarkson was declared legally single in September, more than a year after she filed for divorce from the talent manager in June 2020, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Now that she’s single, the first-ever “American Idol” winner was asked if she’s open to dating other people. According to Clarkson, she is not closing the door on the idea since she does not know what the future holds.

“It's one of those things you didn't expect or anything, but at the same time, I've already had people be like, ‘Let me know when you're wanting to date,’” she shared.

Clarkson continued, “It's like, you know what, I don't think you have to have someone with you all the time. I really do enjoy my work, my kids, my creative self. Sometimes I got stifled in relationships. It's hard to be as creative as I can because sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve.”

The “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker went on to share that she might jump back to the dating game in the future, but she’s decided not to tie the knot again.

“Well, I do know I won't get married again. But I just mean, you never know about love. It's one of those things where we're engineered -- especially from where I'm from -- to have to have that. And I don't have that need,” she said.

Clarkson’s admission that she does not want to marry again comes just a few days after she told Andy Cohen on her talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that she’ll likely be “single forever.”

Clarkson and Blackstock exchanged wedding vows in October 2013 after dating for two years. They broke up and filed for divorce seven years later. The exes co-parent their two kids, 7-year-old daughter River and 5-year-old son Remington, according to Us Weekly.
