Reality star Kim Kardashian West stirred the pot on social media once again on Friday, drawing inspiration and ire alike for posting a video featuring a hologram of her late father.

The socialite took to Twitter to announce her husband, rapper Kanye West, gave her a “gift of a lifetime” for her birthday.

“A special surprise from heaven. A hologram of my dad,” she tweeted. “It is so lifelike! We watched it over and over, filled with emotion.”

The moving hologram is accompanied by an audio recording of her late father, Robert Kardashian, saying “sometimes I drop hints that I’m around.”

To date, the post has received over 10,000 comments, with reactions running the gamut from insult to inspiration. Others suggested the gift was a personal matter that should’ve been kept private.

“The tone-deafness of wealthy elites has become so evident during this pandemic,” read one tweet.

"This is so insanely tone deaf it could only come from a [expletive] Kardashian," wrote another commenter.

“People like to complain about everything. It [was] a sweet gift. I lost my father too [and] would love that as a gift,” one person said in defense of Kim on Twitter.

Robert gained notoriety when he served as the defense attorney during O.J. Simpson’s murder trial in 1995. Robert was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus in July 2003 and died two months later at age 59.

It’s the second time this week that Kim earned headlines for something other than being a media personality. An opulent display of wealth by whisking her close friends to a private island for her 40th birthday didn’t sit well with some social media users.

With most people under some form of restriction during the pandemic, Kim’s private party was described as being “very selfish.”

“Read the room, Kim,” one fan wrote.
