Lovers of the Red Sky

"Dr. Romantic 2" star Ahn Hyeo-Seop headlines this drama alongside Kim Joo-Yung, Gong Myung and Kwak Si-Yang. It tells the story of a female painter in the Joseon Dynasty who helps prevent a disaster from entering the royal palace. The 16-episode show began airing on Aug. 30 and took the No. 1 spot among primetime dramas in South Korea on Aug. 31.

"Lovers of the Red Sky" is a must-watch series for both longtime and new K-drama fans for its well-crafted historical romance plot, according to Kpopmap. It can be streamed on Viu.

River Where the Moon Rises

It stars "Love Alarm" actress Kim So-Hyun and other familiar names in the K-drama world, including Na In-Woo, Lee Ji-Hoon and Choi Yu-Hwa.

"River Where the Moon Rises" tells the story of Korea's well-loved general On Dal from the Kingdom of Goguryeo. Besides being born poor, he was also considered physically unattractive. However, his good heart caught the attention of Princess Pyeonggang, whom he later married.

The drama series won three major awards at Korea's Broadcasting Awards held on Sept. 2. It bagged the Best Drama Award while its lead female star, Kim, won the Best Actress and Popular Actress awards. This drama is currently available on Viu.

Bossam: Steal the Fate

Aired in May, this show casts "Moon Embracing The Sun" actor Jung Il-Woo and Girls Generation alum Kwon Yuri. It tells the story of a man whose life turns into chaos when he mistakenly kidnaps a princess. "Bossam: Steal the Fate" is currently streaming on Viki.

Kingdom: Ashin Of The North

This is one of the year's most anticipated dramas as it is a prequel to the highly successful horror series "Kingdom."

"Kingdom: Ashin Of The North" casts "My Love From The Star" actress Jun Ji-Hyun, who will lead viewers to the origins of the resurrection plant which gave rise to zombies in the drama set in the fictional Joseon Dynasty. It premiered on Netflix in July.

This is expected to generate buzz as it stars K-pop idol Jun Ho of the boyband 2PM. He is joined by actress Lee Se-Young, who is mostly known for her role in "Dr. John."

The show, which follows a crown prince who falls in love with a court lady who refuses to become his concubine, will start airing in November.

Yeonmo / Affection

Set to premiere in October, this show revolves around a female monarch and the attractive men in court who are serving her. Its cast members include "Do You Like Brahms" actress Park Eun-Bin, Ro Woon of boyband SF9 and Nam Yoon-Su.

Tale of the Royal Secret Agent and Jo Yi

This drama follows the adventures of a lazy royal secret agent who works with a widow to find out about the corrupt practices of palace officials.

Ok Taec-Yeon of boyband 2PM plays the role of the secret agent in the series. Meanwhile, the widow is played by Kim Hye-Yoon. The official release date of the drama is yet to be announced.

When Flowers Bloom I Think Of The Moon

The show is headlined by Girls Day alum Hye-Ri, Byeon Woo-Seok, Kang Mi-Na and Yoo Seung-Ho. It tells the story of three people who keep meeting each other in a secret liquor warehouse in the Joseon Dynasty. Its premiere date is yet to be released.
