  • The in vitro fertilization (IVF) process has been an "emotional rollercoaster" for Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, a report says
  • The process reportedly has been "especially difficult" for Kardashian
  • Barker reportedly just wants his fiancée to be happy and healthy and is not putting any pressure on Kardashian

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker didn't expect the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process to be so challenging when they began their journey to expand their family last year.

Kardashian, 43, and Barker, 46, "decided to try and get pregnant after they had dated for a few months," an unnamed source told People. The couple started IVF "last summer," but the process has taken a toll on them, especially on Kardashian, according to the insider.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster. They never expected it to be as hard as it's been," the source said. "It's been especially difficult for Kourtney. They still would love to have a baby. Travis is not putting any pressure on Kourtney though. He just wants her to be happy and healthy."

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" alum is already a mom of three. She shares Mason, 11, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 6, with ex Scott Disick. Meanwhile, Barker shares two children, son Landon, 18, and daughter Alabama, 16, with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

Kardashian opened up about her IVF journey on Thursday's episode of the Hulu series, "The Kardashians." She told her mom Kris Jenner that she really wanted to have a child with Barker.

However, things were apparently not going as planned as Kardashian revealed that she's facing complications in her IVF journey and experiencing depression as a result.

When Jenner asked her eldest daughter about her doctor's appointments, Kardashian admitted that they have been "awful."

In a confessional, Kardashian said that IVF "hasn't been the most amazing experience."

"Every single person on social media is always like, 'Kourtney's pregnant, Kourtney's pregnant, Kourtney's gained so much weight.' I'm like, it's so rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they're actually going through," Kardashian told her mother.

"The medication that they've been giving me, they put me into menopause," she added.

Jenner was shocked by the news that her daughter was suffering from depression, telling Kardashian: "I feel like I've never seen you happier."

The Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch added in a confessional, "Even though Kourtney has three beautiful children, it doesn't make it hurt any less if you're trying to have a baby and you've been struggling."

An unnamed source told Us Weekly earlier this month that Kardashian has been taking the treatments "seriously" and that her fiancé "is fully supporting her every step of the way."

Kardashian feels that she's almost at the "cut-off age of having kids," so the couple is "praying for a miracle," according to the insider.
