A woman in Las Vegas shot her husband to death during an altercation when the man choked their daughter.

According to Lt. Ray Spencer from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the police were investigating a homicide in an apartment in the 1700 block of Reno Avenue near Tropicana Avenue and Spencer Street around 9:00 p.m. Monday (May 25).

Officers responded to the home after a woman, described as a black female in her mid-40s, reported that she shot her husband after the two got into a fight. The officers located the husband with a gunshot wound in the bedroom of the apartment. He was described as a black male in his late-40s.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the man had an argument with the couple's teenage daughter. The altercation escalated and got physical when the man began choking his daughter until her mother intervened.

The father and daughter got into a fight again after some time. The mother separated them and took her husband to the bedroom when he began choking the teenager again.

A short while later, a gunshot was heard from the bedroom. Police believe the shot fired hit the husband and resulted in his death.

The authorities did not reveal the details regarding the exact occurrences in the bedroom. The identity of the suspect and her husband were also not revealed.

No information was available as to what led to the altercation between the father and daughter.

It was unclear if the mother was facing any charges. The investigation was ongoing and no further details were available at the time of this writing.

In a similar incident, a woman and her two children killed her husband when he tried to rape his 15-year-old daughter. The father threatened to hang himself with a cable wire if the family did not let him have sex with his minor daughter. The mother, her 20-year-old son, and the minor daughter strangled the man to death with the same cable wire. The man was accused earlier of raping his stepdaughter who killed herself after he was bailed out for the crime. The man had also reportedly raped his sister-in-law in the past.
