When audiences see the closing credits roll in “Last Christmas,” they will hear a familiar voice singing a brand new song. Leading up to the film’s release on Friday, George Michael's estate has released his first posthumous song.

The Telegraph reported (via Yahoo! News) that the song titled “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)” was one of the last four songs that the late singer recorded in the studio before his death on Christmas Day in 2016. The piece tells the story of a dysfunctional family where the father was a heavy drinker and how a parent’s actions can influence their children with their lifestyle choices.

"They are great songs. George was in a good space, excited about the future, confident that he was going to come back with a bang. It would have been an upbeat positive album, a 21st Century Faith. It's a shame it wasn't finished," Michael’s co-writer and producer, James Jackman, informed the British newspaper.

While fans should not expect an album to be released including Michael's other new songs, they can still hear his latest on the soundtrack for the “Last Christmas” film. The record also includes his hits “Last Christmas” (with Wham!) and “Everything She Wants” along with 12 of his other songs from his musical career.

The song “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)” was first played on the British radio show “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show” on BBC Radio 2 on Wednesday. In a press release, it was revealed that the unreleased track was the first original material shared since Michael last recorded it several years ago.

The holiday rom-com follows a seasonal worker named Kate (Emilia Clarke) who randomly bumps into Tom (Henry Golding) who helps her get her life back in order following an unexpected turn. Directed by Paul Feig, audiences can check out the film when it releases in theaters on Friday.
