  • DiCaprio returns to the screen in Martin Scorsese's latest project
  • "Killers of the Flower Moon" is based on David Grann's non-fiction novel
  • Lily Gladstone plays DiCaprio's wife in the movie

Leonardo DiCaprio revealed the first look of his highly-anticipated movie, "Killers of the Flower Moon," on Monday.

The 46-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a still from the movie featuring him and actress Lily Gladstone. The Apple Original movie, based on David Grann's non-fiction novel, revolves around the serial murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation that took place in Oklahoma in the 1920s. The screenplay of the movie is penned by Eric Roth.

The movie will mark another collaboration between DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese. Previously, the actor-director duo worked together on a dark comedy, "The Wolf of Wall Street," which released in 2013.

In the first look of the upcoming crime drama, DiCaprio, who portrays Ernest Burkhart's character, is seen sitting at a dinner table alongside costar Lily Gladstone, who plays his on-screen wife, Mollie. Since the first look dropped, fans couldn't hold back their reactions on social media.

"I don't like the hairstyle, it's too similar to the previous movie(the bangs on your face don't fit). Facial expression is convincing as usual," wrote one user on Twitter.

Many fans gushed over the actor's look. "Why You are so beautiful? You are forever Prince in my memory," wrote one, while another fan tweeted: "Hottest man alive."

Some fans noted that the movie is based on Grann's novel with the same name. One person on Twitter shared: "Wow!! Got this book Christmas before last and was so blown away by it!"

Another user noted that before watching the movie, they would like to read the book. "Interesting picture, your facial expression as the character already seem (sic) to show hints of guilt & turmoil. I'm planning to read the book first before the film," the user commented. "I'm curious as to how you, Scorsese & De Niro portray these events of corruption that were perpetrated against."

DiCaprio was last seen in 2019’s feature film, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," helmed by Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino.

The actor's upcoming Netflix movie, "Don't Look Up," is currently under post-production. It is slated to release later this year and in this film, DiCaprio would be seen opposite actress Jennifer Lawrence. The movie also stars Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and Chris Evans in key roles.
