Disney is on a roll with its live action remakes, from “Cinderella” to “Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

It also has plans to do a remake of the 1989 animated classic, “The Little Mermaid.” Given the success of all of their remakes, it’s no wonder that several actors want dibs on their future projects, and apparently, Lindsay Lohan is no exception.

The actress was not shy about her intent and even posted a comparison photo on Instagram. In it, Lohan showed off her gorgeous red locks and posted a photo of the animated Ariel beside her.

People’s thoughts regarding the role were mixed. Some were enthusiastic, such as one fan who wrote, “You look your best as a redhead. I appreciate that you are campaigning for the Ariel role because you love Ariel.”

“I wish you the best of luck Lindsay. You’ll do a great job,” another approving fan wrote.

Of course, some netizens were mean and catty. One of them commented, “You wish... Maybe 10 years ago, but now you look more like Carrie after the blood was thrown on her.”

“Thanks, but no thanks. She's a little too old to play Ariel, who's supposed to be 15 or 16,” another noted.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures is also making its own live movie adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” and tapped Chloe Grace Moretz to star as Ariel. The studio got Rebecca Thomas as director, while the script will be written by Richard Curtis, according to Movie Web.

However, Moretz later turned down the role because she wanted to be more selective of the roles she’s going to do. “I pulled the plug on all my movies because I want to reassess who I am and find myself within my roles again,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I'm realizing that I can slow down.”
