TMZ is reporting that Lindsay Lohan's lawyer could potentially reduce her charges in a felony grand theft case.

According to the report, the lawyer brought an expert to the shop to appraise the value of the necklace Lohan allegedly stole.

Shawn Holley, Lohan's lawyer, brought an appraiser to the LAPD headquarters to examine the necklace. Kamofie & Company set the price of the necklace at $2,500 but according to the report they bought the piece of jewelry for just $850.

According to TMZ, if the necklace is worth less than $950, the case cannot be filed as a felony but rather as a misdemeanor. This would be big for Lohan as her charge would be significantly reduced.

On Friday, which is the day Lohan's preliminary hearing is set to begin, Holley is expected to raise the issue.
