"Little People, Big World" star Jacob Roloff got candid about the traumatic experience he had while filming the reality show.

On Wednesday, Roloff, 23, took to Instagram and shared how he suffered sexual abuse from a producer of the show. He accused Chris Cardamone, a former producer for TLC's "Little People, Big World" from 2007 to 2010, of molesting him.

In his lengthy message on social media, Roloff explained that his disclosure has been delayed but he found fortitude. He decided to share it but made it clear that he had no desire to provide the details publicly.

"As a child, after what I realize now was a long grooming process, I was molested by an executive producer for ‘Little People Big World,’ Chris Cardamone," he wrote.

"I do not expect to provide details of this encounter at any point publicly. I do hope he is never allowed around children again."

He decided to share the experience after contemplating about the statement Cardamone allegedly texted to him years later in November 2015. He wanted to disclose it because it remains a traumatic memory for him and he felt the need to release it to exercise further power over his development.

"By revealing this, I may be more fully understood and my perspective on issues such as child sexual abuse, child exploitation, and the collateral cost of reality television may be received more clearly. Although, I would have to add that this experience has not solely defined my point of view on any of these issues, nor has it defined my worldview in general," he continued.

"This may also serve as a reminder that the experience of sexual assault, in all of its iterations, can happen to anyone at anytime and is a far more prevalent reality than our current social stigma allows us to talk about."

For those wondering why Roloff only spoke about the issue years after it happened, he said, "a child must process, and I needed silence and time."

He added that the profits while filming were sweet, but the actual experience was complicated. Roloff also stressed that the blame should be put on the predator and not on any of his family members. He concluded his message by showing his support to other victims of abuse.

"I am certain that this is a positive moment for me, and another step toward a brighter future. In solidarity with silent survivors," he concluded.

TLC released a statement after Roloff’s post on Instagram and confirmed that they received a complaint about an alleged sexual abuse encounter and it saddened and troubled them.

"TLC was just informed about an alleged encounter that occurred years ago involving a third party connected to the production of Little People, Big World," TLC told People in a statement.

"We are saddened and troubled by this very serious allegation, and TLC will work cooperatively with the authorities. Our main focus remains on supporting the Roloff family during this very difficult time."
