How can Liverpool F.C. possibly do even better after what they've done in recent years?

The triumphant 2019-2020 Premier League season for Liverpool is one for the ages. Jurgen Klopp’s side was dominant from the onset, and finally winning the league title for the first time in 30 years.

Now, even as the seasons winds down amid the global pandemic, the Reds will have to deal with the inevitable question asked of every champion: what’s next?

For the last two seasons, the Merseysiders have surpassed the 90-point mark. They won the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final over Tottenham Hotspur. The club defeated Flamengo to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time. It’s been a veritable golden age for the club that resides in Anfield. What then can they do to go beyond all this success or at the very least, find a way to sustain it.

There is no one player that the Reds have set their sights on over the summer but one name they have been linked with is Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. winger Adama Traore according to GiveMeSport. The 24-year-old began his career as a reserve for Barcelona before joining Aston Villa in 2015. A year later, the Catalan-born Traore signed with Middlesbrough before settling in with Wolves in August 2018.

Sporting Director Michael Edwards has been informed that to land Traore, $90.3 million will be the transfer fee, a considerable sum for sure. Yet former Liverpool man Stan Collymore has recently said that the Reds could land both Traore and fellow Wolverhampton man Raul Jimenez simultaneously.

At 29-years-old, the Mexican Jimenez has shown himself to be more than able to thrive in the Premier League after stints with Club America in his native Mexico, Atletico Madrid in La Liga, and S.L. Benfica in Portugal’s own Primeira Liga. Jimenez set the record for the most goals by a Wolves player in a Premier League season in a victory over West Ham United last month.

Traore has already scored six goals and an impressive nine assists this season with Wolves and has been tearing apart opposition defenders on a regular basis. With Mo Salah already established in Anfield, having Traore come off the bench would be a devastating weapon for Klopp to unleash.

But if he’s not going to start regularly, GiveMeSport notes that it might not be prudent for the Reds to spend that much on the winger. For all his success though, can anyone blame Wolves for setting the price that high?
