  • Liverpool has made very little changes in its roster this past summer
  • The Reds might consider signing Ajax's Ryan Gravenberch in the future
  • Gravenberch is reportedly being viewed by his suitors as a cheap yet valuable signing

Amid a successful 2021-22 season, Liverpool may have already earmarked an exciting early transfer target.

The Reds have barely made an addition to their squad in the summer, despite having linked to a wide array of potential signings.

However, the said narrative could be changed as early as next summer with Ajax midfield star Ryan Gravenberch now on Liverpool’s radar, Liverpool.com reported, citing Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

According to the report, Ajax has reached out to renowned soccer agent Mino Raiola about potentially extending Gravenberch’s contract beyond 2023.

However, there are still no guarantees that the player will commit to the Dutch side, and if he never does, that’s the only time Liverpool can make a move.

Several clubs are now tailing Gravenberch, but the report noted that Liverpool is “closely following” the Dutchman.

Manchester United and Juventus are also said to be in the conversation.

As of now, Gravenberch's reported price tag remains around the region of a reasonable £30 million ($41 million).

Gravenberch’s progress is currently being likened to former Ajax stars Frenkie de Jong, Hakim Ziyech and Matthijs de Ligt.

However, football scout Connor McGinn told Liverpool.com earlier this year that the 19-year-old has earned comparisons to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and is even viewed as a “better version” of the World Cup winner.

"Paul Pogba is a name that gets thrown around a lot in terms of a comparison and in fact, one of the coaches at Ajax, Brian Tevreden, compared him to Pogba," McGinn revealed.

"Tevreden said he is a 'better version' of Pogba than what Pogba was in his early Juventus days and it is clear to see why: they are both tall, imposing figures, and have the physical ability, but combine that with a technical ability more similar to a more Spanish-style player," he continued.

Looking at the current attack of Liverpool, it appears that now is not the best time for Gravenberch to join Jurgen Klopp’s side as the Merseyside club has no plans of offloading any of its attacking options.

"We do not want more players," Klopp explained "Unless something happens it makes no sense to add more players. Everyone expects some player signings, (but) let's go through the squad. Do you want to buy a new fullback? A new goalkeeper? We already have good players there."

"In midfield, we have players with a lot of experience, we have exciting young boys in Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. In attack, [Sadio] Mané, [Roberto] Firmino, [Mohamed] Salah, [Diogo] Jota, [Xherdan] Shaqiri, [Takumi] Minamino and [Divock] Origi. If you want to buy such players, you have to spend a lot of money. We do not have to do that, because the players are already here."
