Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL
Microsoft will start shipping the Lumia 950 and 950 XL from Oct. 28 along with free accessories worth over $225 WMPowerUser

Microsoft is slated to unveil its flagship smartphones, the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL on Oct. 6. The Lumia 950 XL will be a larger and costlier device than the Lumia 950. Rumors have it that the pricing of the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL will be slightly lower than the price of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.

Both the flagships will be announced on Oct. 6 and will be made available for preordering very soon. The shipping of the handsets will start from Oct. 28. The source did not mention the exact price of the Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL handsets but it does mention that both the handsets will be priced expensively.

Rumors have it that the expensive pricing will also include accessories worth 200 euro ($226). The packages of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL are expected to include accessories like the docking station for Continuum, wireless charger and wireless Bluetooth speaker. In 2014, the Lumia 930 flagship also came with free wireless charger and wireless speaker.

The Continuum docking station is codenamed as "Munchkin." It is equipped with 3 USB slots out of which one is expected to be USB Type-C slot. It will also carry slots like HDMI, Displayport and power supply for charging the handset.

The Bluetooth speaker is codenamed as Livanna and the Miracast receiver is codenamed as Murano. The NFC Treasure Tag accessory is codenamed as Valora. Its Motion Guard feature will notify the user when the tagged item is moved.

Since last year, Microsoft had been consistently releasing budget handsets like the Lumia 535, the Lumia 532, the Lumia 435, the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL. Earlier this year, Microsoft had announced that it will be unleashing premium flagship later this year. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be boasting premium appeal even though the handsets are expected to sport polycarbonate chassis.
