Lupita Nyong'o: Miley Cyrus Broke Up My Romance With Jared Leto, Says 2014 Oscar Nominee

Lupita Nyong’o broke her silence regarding rumors she is dating fellow 2014 Oscar nominee Jared Leto, during an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Friday. The 30-year-old “12 Years a Slave” actress said she is not exclusively seeing the “Dallas Buyers Club” actor, despite reports that the duo was spotted getting cozy at a New York City hotel earlier this month.

When prompted by comedian-host Ellen DeGeneres about their rumored tryst, Nyong’o jokingly deflected the question by commenting on Leto’s newest alleged leading lady, “We Can’t Stop” singer Miley Cyrus. “But I thought Miley Cyrus broke us up… That was the last thing I heard,” said Nyong’o, adding that the recent gossip reports have given her pause. “It’s crazy because when I read these rumors they’re so detailed that even I start to question if they’re true or not." According to Nyong'o, following the recent dating allegations, she plans to no longer put her trust in the tabloids, saying, “I know that I believed them in the past so now I can’t believe in them."

But the up-and-coming star claims that her busy life following her 2014 Oscar nomination for best supporting actress last month doesn't allow for much time to read gossip magazines. “I’ve been so busy that I haven’t actually walked by many newsstands,” said Nyong’o when discussing her recent cover shoots. The Mexico City native most recently graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly alongside fellow Academy Award nominee Cate Blanchett, the publication calling them both "front-runners" for Oscar wins this March.

Nyong’o was rumored to be dating Leto, the 42-year-old lead musician of the rock band 30 Seconds to Mars and the star of the critically acclaimed Matthew Mcconaughey film, “Dallas Buyers Club" on February 14th. According to a report from Page Six, the acting duo was seen “cozying up“ at a corner table at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City in earlier this month, reportedly “looking very close.”

Rumors of Nyong’o’s and Leto’s rumored romance were short-lived, however. According to Us Weekly, the rocker has since moved on to former Disney star Miley Cyrus, 21. The gossip magazine published claims Wednesday that the pair, who was last photographed together at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party in January, have been secretly “hooking up” for weeks. “She stayed over his house in L.A. in early February,” said an insider, another source later adding that the couple most likely won’t be making their relationship official anytime soon, saying, “Jared doesn’t go girlfriends.”
