With its doors boarded up, Macy’s (M) flagship store became a target of looting on Monday evening as protestors showed their support for George Floyd – the black man that died after a white police officer knelt on his neck.

In videos that captured Macy’s Herald Square in New York City being ransacked by looters, boarded up doors and windows can be seen smashed and merchandise ran off with by protestors just shortly after the retailer reopened after shutting all its stores because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The news of the looting comes as New York City enacted an 11 p.m. curfew, which has been met with criticism, the New York Daily News reported. It is expected that Tuesday evening will come with an earlier curfew to help curtail any looting against retailers or damage to communities, the news outlet said.

Macy’s told New York Daily News in a statement, “Macy’s Herald Square had intruders last night during protest activity in New York City. Our first concern is the safety of our colleagues and neighbors, and we are grateful that none of our employees were harmed. NYPD responded to the scene, and to date, damage has been limited.”

Macy’s joins several other retailers that have been targeted by looters during protests over Floyd’s death. Target has closed several stores after looters attacked its stores. Nordstrom had two locations damaged by looters, while H&M, CVS, and Walmart shut stores due to the protests. Amazon has also told its drivers to stop delivering packages in protest prone areas.

Shares of Macy’s stock were up 10.20% as of 3:31 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
