Mama June’s youngest daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson is taking the first step in turning her life around amid fears that she might have diabetes just like her dad Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.

In a video Alana’s “de facto” guardian and older sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 21, recently shared on Instagram, the sisters could be seen discussing the 15-year-old reality star’s health. Right off the bat, Pumpkin made it clear to Alana that they should all strive to lose weight to be healthy.

The older daughter of Mama June Shannon, 41, pointed out to her sister that their mom and her boyfriend Geno Doak, 45, had to go through weight loss surgery because they were eating too much. Pumpkin’s husband, Josh Efird, 24, who was also present, chimed in that even with the surgery, Mama June and Geno had still gotten so “big.”

Upon hearing the young couple’s words, Alana admitted that she does not want to be the same size as their mom and reach a point “where I have to have surgery.”

“I mean, I guess I can eat a little bit more healthier. And it’s not because everybody’s been on my a— for the whole diabetes thing. It’s just I want to make a little bit of changes,” she told Lauryn and Josh.

Pumpkin clarified to her younger sister that they won’t have to eat healthy every day because she believes “it’s all about balance.” She proposed for them to have something like a “Fried Day,” where they can eat fried foods on Fridays. Josh and Alana then voiced their agreement with Pumpkin’s suggestion.

“Well I’m 15 now and I make my own decisions. So, I mean, if I want to eat healthy, I’m gonna make that decision, so I did,” Honey Boo Boo said at the end of the clip before joking that she’s doing this because she wants to live up to 100 years old.

Alana’s health scare started when Sugar Bear, 49, warned her in the earlier episodes of their show, “Mama June: From Not to Hot,” that she should see a doctor to find out if she has diabetes because Mike and his side of the family have the condition.

Last month, the We TV series showed how Honey Boo Boo struggled with the idea of seeing a doctor because her family had been pushing her to get screened for diabetes.

“I know I should probably eat a little bit better. I don't have to go to a doctor and step on a scale for him to tell me that. I already know that,” she said in the May 21 episode of the series.

Alana did see a doctor after much convincing from Pumpkin, Mama June and the rest of the family. However, the results of her medical test were not disclosed.

The show’s fifth season — subtitled “Road to Redemption” — aired its finale episode on Friday, and there was still no mention of Honey Boo Boo’s health status. The last episode focused more on the verdict on Mama June’s legal case, and the matriarch’s desire to move in with her daughters should Geno be sentenced to jail time.

Although We TV has yet to renew the family’s show, many fans are convinced that “From Not to Hot” would be renewed for another season after seeing one of Mama June’s latest Instagram posts. Mama June had teased some “big projects” she and her family have been working on.
