  • The reality star said she was “tired of lying and hiding” in the teaser clip
  • Fans were pleased to know that Jennifer Lamb and Geno Doak were not returning

We TV has quietly renewed Mama June Shannon’s reality show with her family, and the new season will start airing in May.

The 42-year-old TV personality took the liberty to announce the show’s continuation on her Instagram over the weekend. Mama June shared the first look at the new season that seemed to be leaning toward her finally coming clean about her lies.

The clip begins with a scene showing the crew preparing the cameras for Mama June’s confessional. In a voiceover, she says many things are happening behind closed doors that people do not know.

“I’m just tired of lying and hiding,” an anxious Mama June says in front of the cameras. Someone from the crew then tells her that she was the one who asked them to come to her that day, so they were eager to know what she wanted to say.

The teaser ends with a male narrator saying that “Mama June’s finally breaking her silence this May.”

The former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star did not spill more details about the upcoming season and only kept her caption for the post short.

“Oh k we’re back this MAY on @wetv @mamajune_wetv #mamajune,” she wrote.

Fans were happy to hear the update since it has been months since they started flocking Mama June’s social media accounts, asking her for an update about the show.

We TV never announced the show’s renewal after Season 5 wrapped up in June 2021, causing some fans to worry about the TV series’ fate. However, Mama June did confirm on TikTok that they were coming back in “March or April.”

In response to Mama June’s latest update, fans expressed their excitement for the sixth season of the long-running reality show. Many also voiced their joy upon knowing that two of the cast are not coming back.

“Finally!!! I was sad!! Glad y’all are back,” one stated.

“Can’t wait, one of my favorite shows,” another added.

“Good to know Jennifer and Geno are out of the picture though,” a third user wrote.

“Good riddance,” a different netizen commented.

Jennifer Lamb announced in January that she would no longer be involved in the show after separating from Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson — the father of Mama June’s youngest daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson.

As for Geno Doak, Mama June’s ex-boyfriend, he showed off his massive weight loss in February after completing a six-month stint in rehab. In September 2021, Doak checked into a South Carolina facility, where he was expected to commit to a minimum 120-day stay or remain there for up to a year, as per Page Six.

On Valentine’s Day, Geno took to Instagram to announce to his followers that he was back after being away from the platform for months. Apart from his split from Mama June, the 46-year-old also stayed away from social media because he was sentenced to 16 months in Macon, Alabama Community Corrections in the aftermath of the joint drug charges he faced with Mama June.

Geno was never registered as an inmate, so he was not locked up behind bars. Instead, he was made to follow a strict set of rules. Any violation would lead to him being sent to prison.
