'Mamma Mia 3': Lily James Says She 'Desperately' Wants It To Happen
Lily James is really excited about a possible third installment of the popular "Mamma Mia" movie. Though there is no official confirmation about "Mamma Mia 3" yet, the actress told ScreenRant that she is desperately waiting to be a part of it.
"I'm desperate for it to happen. It was like, it didn't feel real. It was so fun just singing on the beach and on a boat. I don't know. Why isn't it happening? We all need it," James said.
The 32-year-old actress, however, claimed she doesn't have any information about the script and is not even sure if she will appear in the third installment or not.
"It's been COVID. It's been terrible. Let's do Mamma Mia," she added. "But only If I'm in it. They probably won't have me. It'll probably be like, Sophie's baby. Anyway! Let's stop talking about it."
"Mamma Mia!" was first released in 2008 and a sequel to the movie, titled "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again," was dropped a decade later in 2018. Both the installments starred actors Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Rachel McDowall, James and Stellan Skarsgård.
James isn't the only cast member who wants the third installment to happen. Previously, Skarsgård also opened up about reprising his character in the "new Mamma Mia!"
"It took 10 years between Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! 2 – if it's going to take another 10 years, then I'll be dead," the 70-year-old actor told ScreenRant last October. "I'm worried we might not get there. But if they call, I will say yes immediately, because the experience of doing those two films was fantastic."
James will be next seen in the highly anticipated TV series "Pam & Tommy," which is based on the true story of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, whose sex tape went viral on the internet. The series will drop this Wednesday on Hulu.
James will feature in a romantic comedy movie, "What's Love Got to Do with It?" which is under post-production. She will also appear in a thriller movie, "The Paris Trap," which is helmed by Pablo Trapero.
