  • Manchester City has agreed personal terms with Aston Villa's Jack Grealish, a report claims
  • There is reportedly “confidence” at the club that a deal can be secured “swiftly”
  • Tottenham's Harry Kane is reportedly still a target for the Citizens

Manchester City may have just taken another step in its pursuit of two of the best players in the English Premier League today, a report has suggested.

The reigning Premier League champion has been searching for formidable forwards following the departure of veteran striker Sergio Aguero. Tottenham’s Harry Kane has reportedly become the club’s top priority, but a move for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish may have already progressed.

Manchester City has agreed personal terms with Grealish and that a deal is ready to be completed, The Athletic reported Friday, citing unnamed sources. There is “confidence” at the club that a deal can be secured “swiftly,” according to journalist Sam Lee. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

However, a deal is yet to be inked, and the forward could still sign a new contract this summer with Aston Villa, which is hoping to keep Grealish. Unnamed sources close to the player are under the impression that he is ready to sign a new Aston Villa contract and that talks were opened prior to the European Championships, according to The Athletic report.

But Manchester City is said to be optimistic about landing both Grealish and Kane this summer if the club manages to shift out a few players on its squad in exchange for big money, the report said.

Grealish is currently on holiday following the recent Euro 2020 and is expected to address the situation when he returns for pre-season. Kane, on the other hand, is still in the mix as Manchester City is “determined” to bring in the England captain as well, the report added.

An earlier report said Tottenham has yet to secure Kane’s future to this day. However, progress is looming as newly appointed Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is set to meet the club’s talisman sooner rather than later.

“The situation surrounding [Harry] Kane is likely to lead the headlines as it is expected the England captain will reiterate his desire to leave Tottenham,” famed transfer insider and Eurosport reporter Dean Jones wrote. “Discussions are expected before then and Kane will be introduced to new manager Nuno Espirito Santo to understand his vision for the club.”

Widespread rumors have been swirling that Manchester City has already launched a bid of around £100 million ($138 million) for Kane’s signature. According to Jones, the said offer is still on the table, and the club is expected to set the record straight “soon.”

“Sources believe Manchester City will soon make it clear that they are serious about an initial £100 million offer [for Kane],” he stated.

In May, the English striker already admitted that he is not sure about what’s about to happen with him and Tottenham. In line with the reports, Kane hinted that Spurs chief Daniel Levy might be tempted to sell him for the aforementioned price.

"I don't know, I mean he [Levy] might want to sell me," Kane said. "He might be thinking 'If I could get £100m for you, then why not?' Do you know what I mean? I'm not going to be worth that for the next 2 or 3 years.”

"I hope we have a good enough relationship,” he continued. “I've given the club…well, I've been there 16 years of my life. So, I hope that we can have a good honest conversation and see where we are at in that aspect.”
