A man entered the Raja Bhoj Airport in the Indian city of Bhopal on Sunday evening and pelted stones on a chopper before laying before a passenger flight which was getting ready to take off.

According to local reports, the unidentified man in his 20s, who is allegedly mentally unstable, first damaged a private chopper by pelting stones. He then laid down before a passenger plane, forcing it to come to a halt. All the passengers were then asked to deboard the flight as there was a security breach and the accused was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Following a security check, the passengers were allowed to board the flight.

Confirming the incident, a CISF officer said, “Though it’s yet to be established, the man, who appears to be mentally unstable and is in his early 20’s, entered the airport from state hanger side. He pelted stones on a private chopper and damaged some of its parts. He later lay before a private airline’s plane which was about to take off for Jaipur. This led to panic on the airport.”

A police officer said, “The CISF is yet to hand over the man to police. Our police officers leading a team are at the airport. The moment we get the custody we will file an FIR and start investigation.”

The CISF officers were questioning the man and additional details were not available at the moment.
