A man killed his wife and threw his newborn daughter into fire because he was unhappy with the birth of a baby girl. The unfortunate incident took place in the Indian city of Gurugram on Saturday.

According to local reports, the accused, identified as Sabeer, and his family were angry with the birth of a girl. On Saturday, Sabeer brutally beat his wife before throwing their 20-day-old daughter into the fire. Both the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. While his wife, Aasmeen, succumbed to injuries at the hospital, the baby was battling for life after sustaining 50 percent burns.

A police case was registered by the father of the victim following which the accused was taken into custody. The charges levied against the accused was not known.

The incident comes a month after a man killed his seven-month-old daughter in the Indian state of West Bengal because he was upset with the birth of a girl. The man, Al MamumSheikh, took the baby out of the home and a few minutes later, the neighbors informed his wife that they heard a baby's cries from a pond. A police case was filed and the man was taken into custody and charged with murder.
