A man was caught on camera tossing his dog off a bridge in a town in Massachusetts, forcing an investigation into the incident after public outrage. A surveillance footage was released by the Wareham Department of Natural Resources.

The incident took place Friday night off a bridge near Onset Beach, Wareham. The video shows the man throw the dog off the roughly 12-foot bridge and then jump off the ledge himself.

“It’s awful; it makes us all so sad,” Sarah Cecil, who manages Stonebridge Bar and Grill, said, adding the dog ran into her restaurant after it got out of the water. “By the time I came back in, the dog had gone up these stairs here and came in behind the bar.”

The Department of Natural Resources said it’s investigating the dog owner, who has been identified. No charges have been filed against the owner so far.

"People..... Please!!!!! Dogs are not supposed to be tossed off of a bridge and no they don’t “like it.” WarehamDNR will be pursuing this issue as well as the bridge jumping offense of the human that tossed his dog off the bridge in excess of 12’ into the saltwater below. We are aware of who the owner is and the dog is ok. We will update further when we have completed our investigation," officials wrote on Facebook.

In the last few months, there have been several incidents of such animal cruelty. In February, a man was caught on camera throwing a dog into a lake filled with crocodiles. The puppy was seen trying to make its way back onto land but was attacked by a crocodile. The incident is believed to have been taken place in Indonesia.

In another shocking video, a dog was seen being repeatedly thrown against a wall in the brutal act of alleged animal cruelty. The video showed a young woman picking up a small dog and hurling it against a bedroom wall.
