Police in Maryland arrested a man on the run for murder charges in a fatal stabbing outside a Popeyes restaurant last week in Prince Georges County.

The suspect was identified as Ricoh McClain in a news release.

A tweet on Thursday morning from Prince George’s County police department confirmed the capture of the 30-year-old. The murder he was wanted for was for the death of Kevin Tyrell Davis.

McClain faces charges of first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment in the death of Mr. Davis on November 4.

He was first identified by an officer who saw the security footage from the restaurant and recognized him from the interactions he had had with the 30th-year-old on the street.

The surveillance footage showed several people were waiting in a line set aside for ordering the famous new chicken sandwich when Davis entered the store and cut in front of many customers.

McClain then confronted Davis concerning his behavior, and a few seconds later, the two went outside the restaurant to continue with the altercation. That is when McClain stabbed Davis.

The police released a photograph of McClain and a woman who was with him when he fled the scene of the crime. The woman was interviewed and is considered a witness.

The police maintained that she would not be facing charges over the incident.

The police had also known about McClain's identity from 72 hours after the stabbing occurred. Still, they did not release the name or photo because they believed that it would be detrimental to their investigation until, of course, other avenues to get the suspect had been exhausted.

Authorities also asked the public not to approach the suspect, but to call 911 because he was considered dangerous. There was a reward of 25,000 U.S. dollars linked to any information leading to his arrest.

Popeyes also released a statement on Tuesday in the wake of the stabbing incident, saying that what happened in Maryland was a tragedy, and they were saddened to hear about the senseless act.

The thriving restaurant chain also sent its condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

They have claimed they are working with both the franchisee and the local authorities to gather more information concerning the incident actively.

Some witnesses at the scene say that it was not about the chicken sandwich but rather a misunderstanding that went to another level. Davis’s friends have also set up a memorial for him outside the eatery in Oxon Hill.
