A 40-year-old dog trainer in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu unleashed his dog on his neighbors after they helped his physically abused partner.

The man, identified as Alangombu resident K. Udhayakumar, got into an argument with his unnamed live-in partner on Friday night, the Times of India reported.

Udhayakumar assaulted the woman and forcibly sent her out of their home in a half-dressed state, which prompted the victim to hide in a stormwater drain outside the residence and ask for help, as per New Indian Express.

The couple's neighbors reportedly rescued the woman and gave her a dress, prompting Udhayakumar to quarrel with them.

During the argument, Udhayakumar unleashed his dog, a pit bull, and it ended up biting 20-year-old Nivedha and 10-year-old Lathika, said inspector A. Velankanni Udhayarekha of the Sirumugai police station.

Nivedha sustained injuries to her neck and mouth, while Lathika got bitten on the thigh, police said. The two were treated as outpatients at Mettupalayam Government Hospital.

Another neighbor, S. Senthamaraiselvi, 45, lodged a legal complaint regarding the incident on Saturday, and police arrested Udhayakumar that evening.

The dog trainer was booked under Sections 294(b) (uttering obscene words), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or by means of any animal), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 506(ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.

In a similar incident, a 40-year-old security guard in the Philippines fatally shot his neighbor during an argument over road right of way, police said.

Anthony Roca Ternate confronted his neighbor, Nina Lumbad Cadungog, as the latter was doing laundry outside her home in the village of Purok Hilltop in Compostela's Canamucan community on March 16.

Ternate, who was accompanied by his wife Madelyn, complained about Cadungog's plants since they blocked his path every time he drove his motorcycle past his neighbor's house.

During the argument, Ternate grabbed a gun from his home and shot Cadungog. The victim, who was shot three times in different parts of the body, died on the spot.

Ternate fled the scene, but he later surrendered to the Compostela Police Station and admitted to being the sole perpetrator of the crime after Madelyn got arrested for being an alleged conspirator in Cadungog’s killing.

The security guard had shot Cadungog as she was "noisy" during their argument, Compostela police chief Lt. Samuel Negro said.

Ternate faced murder charges over the incident, while his wife, Madelyn, was released after Ternate made an extra-judicial confession stating his wife had no involvement in the killing.
