  • Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides update on Amad Diallo
  • Solskjaer wants Diallo to make his first-team debut in less than a month
  • The 18-year-old has already earned comparisons to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United’s wonderkid hyped as one of the best prospects in the sport could be ready for his senior team call-up.

Amad Diallo completed his move to Old Trafford earlier this month after being monitored by the Red Devils for years. Despite his tender age, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t hesitating on catapulting the youngster straight to the first team.

Even more interesting, Solskjaer plans to cut the 18-year-old’s preparation time in training and confirmed that the former Atalanta star could make his debut in less than a month.

"Very good. He can handle the ball, he has enjoyed training and makes a difference in training, which is quite remarkable at his age,” Solskjaer recently told Goal of Diallo.

"There will need to be some adjustment to settle into the hustle and bustle of the physical part of the Premier League but I can't see it being too long until he's in the squad," he continued. "It might be quicker than that (four to five weeks).”

Apart from Diallo’s potential as a player, the Norwegian also lauded the teenager’s attitude and how he has been perfectly “settling” down with the team.

"He (Diallo) has definitely settled down well, the players have taken to him and he is a very good character, very polite, smiley boy who works really hard,” the manager stated. "He's doing his sessions, getting used to us. Of course, there's always a period of adjustment needed but he's settling in well."

Prior to joining Manchester United, Diallo was handed five senior call-ups for Atlanta, two of which came in the latest season. However, the buzz around the sport states that the Ivorian winger has the same playing style as a young Lionel Messi.

Aside from comparisons with Messi, Diallo is also already being touted to follow the rise to stardom of Cristiano Ronaldo during the Portuguese striker’s move to Manchester United in 2003.

“If you see his clips and speak to people at the club who are involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be a world-beater,” Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently said of Diallo on his “FIVE” podcast.

“That is the thought of Manchester United people, that this kid is one they have unearthed,” he continued. “I don’t want to put the pressure of [Cristiano] Ronaldo on him, but no one knew about Ronaldo when we bought him other than the people in Portugal. This kid seems similar in that sense and if you see his clips and the way people talk about him, the world is his oyster if he applies himself right.”
