A teaser trailer of “The Mandalorian” has revealed a new character named Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who is a sharpshooter assassin. In a recent interview, Wen shared her insights about the character.

“Your name will be legendary,” Fennec says in the new teaser.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Wen revealed that the idea about the character came from the name. The new character is actually a fennec fox, who is tricky, able to maneuver, stealthy, capable of surviving in the harsh galaxy, and yet she is graceful and agile.

“I just love that whole image with the name,” Wen said.

Fennec is a mercenary. Wen compared her character to Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and she is loyal only to herself. Unlike the swashbuckling smuggler who only transports goods to make money, Fennec kills people for a living.

“She is definitely someone who’s loyal to herself,” Wen said about her character. The actress added that her character’s backstory is still evolving and teased that Fennec has a sense of humor despite the nature of her work in “The Mandalorian.”

Wen teased that her character is a skilled fighter who uses a variety of weapons on the show. Her primary weapon of choice is a “big, big gun” that the actress described as “a big boy.”

While the fans are yet to see the first season of the “Star Wars” live action TV series, production has already started for Season 2. A few pictures from the production set have also surfaced online.
