Each year, countless people will listen to Mariah Carey's 1994 hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You," but the history of the classic holiday song has likely remained a mystery. However, that will all change later this month when Amazon drops the new documentary "Mariah Carey Is Christmas: The Story of 'All I Want For Christmas is You.'"

On Wednesday, the company released the first trailer for the new film. In it, we see former "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and others discussing the thought process that went into creating the now-famous song, the riskiness that went along with releasing a holiday song so early in her career, and how it all came together.

In the trailer, which can be seen below, Jackson discusses the uncertainty that some felt regarding the potential success of the project.

"To come up with an original holiday song that becomes a hit, next to impossible," he says, adding, "You almost think when you hear it, 'I've heard this before.'"

Carey herself also gives a firsthand account of what it was like during the creation process. "I just remember where I was coming from, wanting it to feel like a classic. It was an accomplishment for me that I'm just really proud of," she states at the end of the short clip.

"Mariah Carey is Christmas" premieres later this month on Amazon.
