KEY POINTS

  • “Marvel’s Avengers” players will need to go through specific steps in order to upgrade their save files
  • The PS5 versions boast an enhanced performance and four-second loading times
  • An expansion pack is coming later this year featuring Black Panther and Wakanda

The PS5 version of “Marvel’s Avengers” by Crystal Dynamics is now available, along with the new DLC featuring Hawkeye. Those who have a PlayStation 5 console will be happy to know that a free next-gen update is up for grabs if they already own the game on the PS4.

Thankfully, transferring saves from the PS4 to the PS5 isn’t complicated. For those who want to migrate their saves, here’s a quick and easy guide on how to do so.

“Marvel’s Avengers” PS4 to PS5 Save File Transfer

First, make sure that the PS4 version of “Marvel’s Avengers” is updated to the latest patch version. Transferring saves between console generations will not be possible without this.

Afterward, boot up the game and navigate to the “Save Migration” tab found on the main menu. Follow the necessary prompts on the screen and wait for the save files to upload.

Lastly, go to the PS5 version of the game. There will be a prompt asking whether or not the uploaded save file is to be downloaded. Confirm the prompt then wait until the transfer is complete.

Take note that the save file transfer process is still necessary even if both versions of “Marvel’s Avengers” are installed on the same PS5 console.

What’s new?

The next-gen version of “Marvel’s Avengers” does not bring much to the table in terms of unique content, but fans will be thrilled to know that loading times have improved massively. The usual 60-second loading time per chapter has been reduced to just 4 seconds, IGN reports.

Fans will be able to enjoy the game at its best, with the PS5 allowing it to run at a smooth 60 FPS at 4K resolution, and the extremely short loading times mean players will get to play more and wait less.

The new Hawkeye DLC, which is free for everyone, is also a nice addition to “Marvel’s Avengers.” It does not only add Clint Barton as a playable character, but it also features him in his own mini-campaign that, while short, is very enjoyable.

Square Enix has also revealed a content roadmap for the game this year, laying out their plans to add more heroes, villains, game modes, game health and quality of life improvements, and finally, the “War For Wakanda” expansion featuring the Black Panther.
