An 11-year-old was hospitalized after he was stabbed by his father. The incident took place in Baltimore County, Maryland, on Tuesday (May 12).

According to local reports, the incident came to light after the victim rushed to his neighbor’s home to get help. The neighbor immediately alerted the police. Officers responded to 4200 block of Maple Path Circle in Nottingham around 10.30 a.m. Tuesday. The 11-year-old boy told the officers that his father stabbed him with an object. The officers then noticed a puncture wound on the victim’s upper body and rushed him to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not known.

In the meantime, the officers attempted to arrest the suspect. He, however, resisted arrest and injured one of the officers. He was eventually taken into custody and the injured officer was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Jennifer Peach, of the Baltimore County Police Department, said, “The father was there, when officers tried to place him under arrest, he began to fight with police. The officer who attempted to arrest that man did suffer non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.”

Investigation into the incident was ongoing and the identity of the suspect will be revealed only after formally charging him. Meanwhile, police have asked the people who are victims of domestic violence and those who are in immediate danger to call 911.

The incident comes less than a month after a Michigan woman was charged with stabbing her three-year-old son to death. Police responded to a home and found the victim lying in a pool of blood in a bedroom. The boy, who has suffered a stab wound to his chest, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was revealed that the boy lived with his mother and that the woman was last seen five days before the body was found.

Following a search, the woman was arrested from a hotel in a different city. Meanwhile, an autopsy revealed that the victim died from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma injuries. The mother was charged with premeditated murder, murder, child abuse and torture.
