Matt Lauer celebrated his 61st birthday over the weekend, a little more than a year after he was fired from NBC. Despite the time that has past since his sexual harassment scandal, the anchor is not considering making a comeback to television.

NBC announced they were firing the anchor on Nov. 29, 2017, after receiving a complaint from an employee accusing Lauer of sexual misconduct. Since then, the journalist has done his best to keep a low profile while dealing with his rumored divorce from wife, Annette Roque.

Although the former “Today” show anchor has plenty of time on his hands, sources told People Lauer “is not thinking about working again right now.”

“He doesn’t sit around thinking about a comeback,” a second insider told the publication.

Rather than planning the ultimate TV comeback, Lauer has been reportedly focusing on the three kids he shares with Roque, sons Jack, 17, and Thijs, 11, and daughter Romy, 14.

While the journalist still has a good relationship with his kids, the public scandal reportedly weighed heavily on the family. “All he wants is to be involved in his kid’s lives. He spends his days doing as much kids stuff as he can,” the insider shared.

Lauer and Roque have not publicly commented on the state of their marriage since the anchor’s sexual harassment scandal began.
