Ever since Matt Lauer was fired from the “Today” show following sexual harassment allegations, the anchor has been staying out of the spotlight. Despite various rumors claiming the journalist is eager to return to television, the 60-year-old does not have plans to make a career comeback.

Lauer, whose marriage to wife Annette Roque has also been plagued with divorce rumors, took a major hit in his career on Nov. 29, 2017. At the time, NBC announced the television personality was let go from his position after an employee filed a complaint regarding his inappropriate behavior in the workplace.

Now, months later, a source tells People Lauer “is not planning any kind of TV comeback right now.” Instead, the anchor has turned his attention to keeping a low profile and being present in the lives of the three children he shares with Roque, sons Jack, 17, and Thijs, 11, and daughter Romy, 14.

“Matt doesn’t really socialize much with his friends anymore. He’s been staying close to home and laying really low and focusing all his energy on the kids,” the insider explained.

Despite the state of his marriage, Lauer remains committed to his children. “He supports his kids’ events,” the source shared.

News of Lauer’s comeback comes amid reports the anchor and Dutch model are ready to end their marriage after his termination from NBC put a strain on their relationship.

A different source previously told Us Weekly Lauer and Roque, who are reportedly still living together at the family’s Hamptons compound, have reached a divorce settlement that is expected to give the model ownership of the New York home. “He’s going to be forking out around $50 million in a settlement,” the insider revealed.

“She will receive the horse farm, their current residence and a one-time payment of $25 million. There will be no child or spousal support and they will split the costs for the kids,” the source added.

Although Lauer is expected to give up a generous portion of his net worth in order to legally dissolve his marriage to Roque, those close to the anchor insist making a comeback to television is not on his list of priorities.
