Mayim Bialik, best known for her role on the 1990s hit show "Blossom," was rushed to the hospital after she sustained serious injuries resulting from a car accident in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported.

Sources who spoke to the website said the actress is in danger of losing her finger.

The accident occurred on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea around noon, insiders told TMZ. They added that "Blossom" was driving alone in a white Volvo that was hit in the intersection by another car carrying tourists from Chile.

After the accident TMZ reported that emergency personnel rushed the scene. Another source told the celebrity gossip site that there was "tons and tons of blood everywhere."

"From what I was told, there was a lot of blood at the scene," LAPD Sgt. Monte Houze said to People, corroborating the bloody claim.

Bialik reportedly damaged her hand and "her finger was almost completely severed, it was just hanging there."

The 36-year-old mother of two and wife of Michael Stone was taken to a hospital in the area where she is being treated for her injuries.

The story is still developing.
