Sony will be hosting its second State of Play broadcast later this week, and will give players and fans an extended look at the “MediEvil” remake. The game company is also set to reveal an all-new title, in addition to giving updates about upcoming games.

In an entry on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that the second State of Play episode will be broadcast on Thursday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The show, which is similar to Nintendo’s videogame presentation, Nintendo Direct, will run for around 10 minutes only, but promises to be packed with details players will like.

What to expect

“MediEvil” Remake

PlayStation Worldwide Studios will present an extended look at the “MediEvil” remake for the PlayStation 4. This game is based on the original game released for the original PlayStation console in 1998.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden, in a PlayStation Blog entry, said this title will be a “full remake” of the original PS1 game.

Layden said it will feature remade locations, characters, and baddies like zombies, scarecrows, werewolves, and mace-wielding knights. Layden was part of the team who worked on the original 1998 classic, Polygon noted.

For those who haven’t seen the classic game or don’t know its story, “MediEvil” features a protagonist named Sir Daniel Fortesque in his journey to defeat the evil sorcerer Lord Zadok and stop him from conquering the Kingdom of Gallowmere.

Sir Dan actually died on the field of battle. Lord Zadok, however, accidentally raised him back to life 100 years after his death. Now a skeleton clothed in armor, Sir Dan is the only one who stands against the evil sorcerer and his army to protect the Kingdom.

All-new Title

Sony promised to reveal an all-new title during the second State of Play episode. Sony also promised to give updates regarding other upcoming PS4 titles.

We don’t know anything about this new title as the game company hasn’t mentioned anything about it yet. Better wait for the State of Play to see what Sony will present.

PlayStation 5?

Sadly, those who are waiting for an announcement about Sony’s next-gen console, the PlayStation 5, won’t hear anything about it this State of Play. The blog simply said, “Don’t expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time. Sorry!”

Sony’s State of Play broadcast can be seen via Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
