Several other players who won smaller amounts. Fifteen players hit the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball, winning $10,000 apiece.

Four players hit the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball with the 5X Megaplier purchase, winning $50,000 each. The rest of the Mega Millions prizes ranged between $2 and $2,500.

The next Mega Millions drawing will be worth an estimated $301 million with a cash option of $160.3 million.

The latest drawing occurred after two winners from Illinois came forward to claim the $1.34 billion jackpot.

The winners consulted with professional financial and legal advisors before deciding to take the lump sum payment of $780.5 million, eight weeks after the historic drawing.

"The winners wish to remain anonymous, and the Illinois Lottery is unable to share any information about the winners except to say that they must be absolutely 'over the moon' with their Mega Millions win," Illinois Lottery officials said in a statement.

Mega Millions jackpot winners can receive their grand prize winnings through a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity.

Those who opt for the annuity receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

Mega Millions can be played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands.
