Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing did not result in any grand prize winners for the $565M jackpot. Since the grand prize went unclaimed, the Friday jackpot will climb to $640M with a $328.3M cash value.

The Mega Millions winning numbers drawn on Tuesday, Dec. 28, were 9, 13, 36, 59, and 61, with the gold Mega Ball of 11. The Megaplier was 2X. The cash option would have been $289.8M.

The $640M jackpot marks the largest prize offered in the game's history during the final week of any year.

The last time someone won the Mega Millions jackpot was Oct. 14, when ticket holders in California and Florida shared the $502M jackpot. Since then, there have been 21 drawings without any grand prize winners.

Five players became instant millionaires in the Tuesday night drawing. Two ticket holders from California along with players from Florida, Georgia, and Minnesota, hit the Match 5, winning $1M each.

If the players had purchased the Megaplier for an additional $1, they would have increased their prize to $2M.

Aside from the million-dollar prizes that resulted from the Tuesday lottery drawing, 44 players won $10,000 after hitting the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball.

Meanwhile, only three players matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball with the Megaplier and won $20,000 apiece.

Mega Millions jackpot winners can receive the prize through a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity. Those who select the annuity receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

Mega Millions drawings are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. ET. The game can be played in 45 states as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
