Meghan Markle was recently accused of lying about not knowing Prince Harry before they met in 2016.

During her engagement interview with BBC, the Duchess of Sussex said that she didn’t know much about the Duke of Sussex and the royal family altogether. She also had no idea how big of a deal Prince Harry is in the United Kingdom.

“Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the royal family. And so while I now understand very clearly there’s a global interest there, I didn’t know much about him,” she said.

But during previous interviews, Markle’s closest friends revealed that the “Suits” alum was obsessed with the royal family. And if she was really obsessed with them, there’s no way that she didn’t know much about her husband.

In fact, Markle previously traveled to the Buckingham Palace when she was just 15 years old. Her childhood best friend, Ninaki Priddy, told Express that the former Hollywood star also wanted to become Princess Diana 2.0.

“I’m not shocked at all. It’s like she has been planning this all her life… She gets exactly what she wants and Harry has fallen for her play,” she said.

Priddy also told Daily Mail that Markle always wanted to become famous. Growing up, the only daughter of Doria Ragland loved to be at the center of attention. She and Priddy used to practice announcing her name in public.

According to Priddy, Markle always found the royal family fascinating. She even owned one book about Princess Diana titled “Diana: Her True Story.” While Markle was still married to her ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, she reportedly told her friend that she wants to stay in London for a month.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl also wrote in “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love” that Markle enjoyed watching the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. She also studied life at Kensington Palace.

And for all of these reasons, she must have known who Prince Harry was even before they were introduced to each other by their common friend.
