Meghan Markle doesn’t use her first name Rachel and instead goes by her second name Meghan for a reason.

Even before the Duchess of Sussex landed the lead role in “Suits,” she was already known as Meghan Markle and not as Rachel Meghan Markle. Coincidentally, the name of her character in the hit USA Network series was Rachel.

Markle’s husband, Prince Harry, doesn’t also go by his real name Henry. This was revealed after Queen Elizabeth II released the couple’s contract of matrimony around the time of their wedding. The document revealed that the Queen’s grandson’s full name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales.

Kate Whitfield, a journalist for Express, said that Markle may have opted to use Meghan and not Rachel because her second name has a better ring when combined with her surname. Markle, who worked as an actress, may also be advised to use Meghan instead of Rachel as her stage name.

Henry, on the other hand, was derived from the old French name Henri. Throughout the years, it evolved into its English version, Harry. Most monarchs who are known as Henry officially are called Harry just like Henry VIII.

Prince Harry grew up being called as such by Prince Charles and Princess Diana so the public also referred to him as such. But on official documents, the name Henry is what appears. In the same way that in official documents such as birth certificates and contracts, the name Rachel also appears.

In related news, Markle and Prince Harry also made headlines today after it was revealed that the Duchess of Sussex has turned Prince Harry into someone who is grumpy and aloof. Royal correspondent Duncan Larcombe claimed that the royal couple went as far as snubbing the press during their trip to Australia.

“All of Harry’s staff have always thought he was fantastic, but the two of them together are high-maintenance. He’s down to earth, a normal guy trapped in the royal world, and he doesn’t take himself very seriously – but now he is,” he told the New York Post.
