KEY POINTS

  • Meghan Markle has been accused of being reliant on men
  • Prince Harry's wife has been accused of being a preposterous mascot
  • CCN columnist Audrey Hansen doesn't think that Meghan Markle is as good example for women

Meghan Markle was recently lambasted by a CCN columnist after poll results named her as one of Britain’s most influential women.

In her article for the publication, Audrey Hansen said that she wants to take the time to honor the women who have been inspirational to her. The columnist said that Prince Harry’s wife is not part of her list.

“Why would she be? Her fame is built on the very thing that women have been fighting against for decades. Reliance on men. Meghan Markle is a preposterous mascot for International Women’s Day,” she said.

Hansen alleged that Markle relied heavily on her ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, to score her big break in Hollywood. After all, Engelson is a producer.

Shortly after, Markle got into a relationship with Cory Vitiello, an owner of one of the trendiest restaurants in Toronto. Vitiello served as Markle’s getaway to the social elite. And it was because of Vitiello that Markle scored invites to charity galas and other social events.

After months of dating, the Duchess of Sussex got into a relationship with Prince Harry. In fact, Hansen claimed that the “Suits” broke up with Vitiello in the same month that the Duke of Sussex asked for her phone number, which wasn’t a coincidence.

Meanwhile, Markle’s fans showed their support for the Duchess of Sussex. LoveCrafts.com named Markle as one of the most influential women in the United Kingdom. The website surveyed 5,000 people who named her even ahead of Greta Thunberg, Rihanna, Malala Yousafzai, and Jameela Jamil.

Markle’s fans welcomed the result of the poll on Twitter.

“That is a vote by The Real British Public, not the trolls & haters that Tabloids like to call ‘The British Public.’ We have known this because, at walkabouts, people love to see #Meghan and to interact with her. Her Patronages all thrived and progressed, the public love her,” Twitter user @kindess_sussex wrote.

“Meghan is so stunning. She looked back at us twice with the most beautiful smile when we yelled that we loved her!!!” Twitter user @emsktem said.
