Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started a war with the other members of the royal family. It has just been revealed through a source close to the royal couple that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex think that they are responsible for modernizing the monarchy.

While speaking with CNN, the source slammed the royal family members for being afraid of and inexperienced at how to best help harness and deploy the value of Prince Harry and Markle. But palace aides have fired back by saying that the comments were plain wrong and stressed that it just highlights the paranoia of the royal couple.

During an interview with Daily Mail, the palace aides said that Queen Elizabeth is the person who is responsible for modernizing the monarchy. However, it is uncommon that she would take sole credit for it.

“It’s very much a mentality of ‘us against the world,’ which is a real shame. The Duke and Duchess have much to offer and could be a formidable asset for the royal family. But they need to work as a team with the rest of the royal household and, rightly or wrongly, there is a lot of distrust right now,” the source said.

The palace insider went on to say that the recent claims about modernizing the monarchy are akin to saying that Prince Harry and Markle are too good for the royal family and for everyone who works on behalf of Her Majesty.

“The truth is that no-one is ‘anti’ Harry and Meghan and no-one is briefing against them. And it is also just plain wrong to say they have 'single-handedly modernized have single-handedly modernized the monarchy. Modernization is an ongoing process led by the Queen,” the palace aide said.

Following Prince Harry and Markle’s controversial interview on “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” no response has been heard from Her Majesty. But the Queen reportedly removed the royal couple’s photo on display at the Buckingham Palace Audience Room.
