Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not present during Kate Middleton’s birthday bash in Norfolk.

The Duchess of Cambridge had two birthday celebrations. She had an intimate party in Norfolk days before her actual special day where she invited a handful of close confidants.

According to Robbie Griffiths, a journalist for the Mail on Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex weren’t present in the gathering. Among the guests at the intimate gathering were Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who played hockey with Middleton at Marlborough College, and her husband David, who attended Eton with Prince William.

Laura Meade and her husband James were also present. Meade is one of Princess Charlotte’s godmothers. Sophie Carter and her spouse, Robert, were also in attendance.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Norfolk mansion is near Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate. It has 10 bedrooms and plenty of room for guests. Certainly, there’s enough room for Prince Harry and Markle who opted to skip it.

The Sun noted that it’s not clear if Prince Harry and Markle were not invited or if they turned down the invitation. However, their absence in the celebration only intensified their rumored rift.

Middleton and Markle were rumored to have had a ghastly row in Christmas 2017. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into their Norfolk home at Prince Charles’s request.

However, Markle was reportedly judged as “downright rude” upon arrival. Middleton had a few words with the former “Suits” star which didn’t sit well with the latter.

Markle felt that she was being “told off” and complained to Prince Harry who took her side. On the other hand, Prince William defended Middleton who was pregnant with Prince Louis at the time.

Meanwhile, Keir Simmons, senior international correspondent for “Today,” felt that the princes were to blame for their wives’ difficulties. According to him, Middleton and Markle didn’t have issues. In fact, they played and enjoyed Scrabble together during holidays.

He implied that Prince William and Prince Harry were actually the ones who had tensions. The Duke of Sussex wasn’t happy when his older brother voiced his concerns about Markle while they were still dating.
