Meghan Markle kept one secret about her wedding dress that Kate Middleton failed to do.

In New Idea’s “Royals” podcast, royal commentator Angela Mollard spoke about the Duchess of Sussex’s Givenchy wedding gown and how she was able to keep it a secret until her big day.

“There was so much discussion about who it was going to be – we thought it was going to be Ralph & Russo,” Mollard said.

She added that while Middleton’s wedding dress was a surprise on her wedding day, there were already rumors that Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton was designing the gown. Unlike Markle, Middleton failed to really hide the identity of her wedding gown designer.

“Kate hadn’t managed to keep Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton a secret,” the royal commentator continued.

The palace did not confirm when asked if Burton was designing Middleton’s bridal gown. They just said that “Catherine Middleton wishes to keep the designer a secret until the wedding day.”

However, Mandy Ewing, who was part of the team who worked on Middleton’s wedding gown, may not agree with Mollard. According to her, the team kept it a secret until the wedding day. They knew who it was for and the dress was all over the news but “nobody knew who was doing it.”

Ewing said that when they created Middleton’s wedding dress, there were net curtains up and cleaners were not allowed into the room. In addition, the code of the door was changed.

Meanwhile, Mollard also addressed the criticism that Markle’s gown received as many felt that it was not the best fit. However, the royal expert believed that the size of the dress was perfect for Markle.

According to her, she loved the silhouette and the “very old-school Givenchy” impression that it brought. For her, Markle’s wedding dress was the most beautiful wedding dress in official photographs.

However, Katy Perry might also not agree with Mollard. Perry admitted that she loves Markle but she said the latter needed “one more fitting.” When the “Roar” singer was asked which between Middleton and Markle’s wedding dress she preferred, the “American Idol” judge said, “Kate, Kate, Kate won.”
