Meghan Markle's female bodyguard has reportedly quit and turned in her resignation notice after working for the Duchess of Sussex for only half a year.

According to a new report by The Sun's John Lucas, the female bodyguard, whose name has not been made public for security reasons, is Markle's third close aide to resign in two months. The female bodyguard is believed to be a police officer who holds the rank of inspector. Markle's bodyguard apparently quit after being in the job for six months, according to The Sunday Times.

She was photographed accompanying Markle and Prince Harry during their trip to Fiji last year. At one point, she leaped into action during a security scare when Markle stopped by a market in the country back in October. The female bodyguard reportedly replaced Prince Harry's longtime head of security Sergeant Bill Renshaw who retired after working for 30 years in the force.

The female bodyguard's resignation comes before Markle and Prince Harry's move to Frogmore Cottage and after two of the Duchess of Sussex's aides also quit.

Back in November, Samantha Cohen, Prince Harry and Markle's 49-year-old Australian private secretary, resigned from her post. She reportedly worked for the royal family for 17 years and previously served as Queen Elizabeth II's assistant private secretary and press spokesperson.

Cohen worked for Markle on a temporary basis before her royal wedding to Prince Harry in May. She was said to be Markle's trainer in royal etiquette. Cohen was reportedly asked by Markle to work for her fulltime, but the aide apparently declined.

Just a month later, another one of Markle's close aides, Melissa Touabti, also decided to quit after being in the job for half a year, Daily Mail reported.

There is no official announcement from Kensington Palace regarding the female bodyguard's resignation, so fans should take this report about her leaving with a grain of salt for now.
