Melania Trump has been questioned for being “missing in action” amid the coronavirus pandemic in an op-ed piece.

The First Lady has been actively supporting her husband, President Donald Trump. In fact, she attended some meetings in the White House. However, there was a time when she was not that visible.

Palm Beach Post published diverse opinions from the people living in the area. Mary Nagle, a Boynton Beach resident, shared her thoughts on the First Lady.

“While I hesitate to get critical of our first lady at this time, I feel strongly pointing out an injustice. For the last three months, she has only been seen a few times,” Nagle wrote.

She added that she understood that Melania wanted to keep herself and her son safe from the virus. However, she couldn’t understand the various recognitions given to Melania and the lack of efforts from her end to help.

“What I fail to understand is why with all the heroes of all ages contributing to the needs of the sick, the unemployed, supplies for medical workers and testing, food for essential workers and those people lacking the means, this well-to-do woman could not come up with one good cause she could have safely undertaken,” Nagle continued.

“What really brought this to my attention is that prior to the pandemic, at least two organizations singled her out for annual outstanding women awards. I was under the impression that was something that had to be earned! I cannot think of one good thing — from showing up at the immigration border during a tense, inhumane time wearing a jacket with an inappropriate saying on the back to tying a Freedom Medal around the neck of Rush Limbaugh.”

CNN correspondent Kate Bennett also said back in March that Melania was “largely out of sight.” She even compared the FLOTUS’ absence to how the former first ladies responded to a similar crisis.

Laura Bush was the first lady to deliver the weekly presidential radio address after the 9/11 attack. Meanwhile, Eleanor Roosevelt summoned empathy and increased support for the war after the Pearl Harbor bombing.

In related news, Melania fired back at John Henson for joking about Barron in a tweet. The FLOTUS called out the Food Network host for making the “inappropriate and insensitive comments” on her son.
