A family of four from Fremont, Michigan, mysteriously disappeared hours after the father made a bizarre 911 call. The man appeared "paranoid" and called cops claiming he had information about the 9/11 attacks, police said.

Police in West Michigan are looking for 51-year-old Anthony Cirigliano and Suzette, and the couple's two sons – Brandon, 19, and Noah, 15 – who vanished from their home after the man made an emergency call Sunday, NBC News reported.

Investigators said the couple could not be reached on their phones and there had not been any activity on their credit cards or bank accounts.

The couple's two sons are autistic. The family left behind Suzette's elderly mother with dementia. She was found wandering the streets of their Fremont neighborhood and was sent to the care of a relative. Police said it appeared the family left abruptly without making arrangements for taking care of the elderly woman.

"They were found to have unexpectedly left their home in Fremont, Michigan and are believed to be in a silver colored 2005 Toyota Sienna mini-van with Michigan registration," police said.

Officers said they do not suspect foul play but found the missing abnormal.

"We don't see any signs of violence, we don't see any signs of foul play right now. There are no signs of struggle inside the home. But everyone we've talked to ... they all describe this to be extremely abnormal behavior from Tony and Suzette," Fremont Police Department Chief Tim Rodwell told News 8. "Anthony was exhibiting some signs of paranoia."

Just after midnight Sunday, Anthony called 911 asking for police protection. He told the operator he wanted to talk with someone working with the Fremont Police Department regarding a matter of "vital national interest." He then said it was regarding the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and "people want to erase him from the face of the Earth."

"Yes, everyone is OK, but I need the Fremont Police Department ... I need some police protection immediately," Anthony said, according to the call records obtained by News 8. "It is related to September 11th and people want to erase me from the face of the Earth. I am not crazy. (Fremont police sergeant) knows me, I am a Christian, I just need some help, and then the U.S. government will take it from here."

Officers then arrived at the house and talked to the couple. They left the place after making sure "that mental illness wasn't putting anybody in jeopardy," Rodwell said. They also asked the couple to call them if they needed any help.

Meanwhile, Anthony's relative said he was troubled over the weekend and said "bad things" were going to happen. They believe he is trying to protect the family.

The family moved to Fremont four years back from Jasper County, South Carolina, police said.

The officials have not issued an Amber Alert as the case has not met the criteria for the emergency warning. Anyone with information can call the Fremont Police Department at 231.924.2400, Silent Observer at 231.652.1121, or 911.
