The body of a 14-year-old southern Indiana boy who went missing with his dog last week was found in a wooded area near Interstate 64 on Tuesday. The German Shepherd's corpse was also near the teen’s body, authorities said.

Jacob McCarty disappeared while on a mid-morning walk with his dog Isabella near his home in Corydon on Sept. 21, WKLY reported. A search was launched and Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith requested people within 200 miles of Corydon to check their camera footage to help with search efforts.

Following this, the sheriff’s office received a tip from a woman who saw McCarty walking his dog along I-64 heading west around 5 p.m. last Tuesday. Detectives reviewed security camera footage that confirmed a person walking in that location. Officers then began searching the area for Jacob and his dog and found their bodies, the report said.

"Based on this information, a search of this new area was conducted. Detectives subsequently located the deceased bodies of 14-year-old Jacob McCarty and his dog Isabella near a wooded area off of Interstate 64, west of the Harrison County Hospital," the Harrison County Sheriff's Department said in a Facebook post.

The Sheriff’s Department reviewed the scene with the Harrison County Coroner and Indiana State Police and said that foul play is currently not suspected. However, the cause of death will be determined only after the completion of an autopsy.

McCarty’s father has been notified and briefed of all information known by law enforcement, the Sheriff's Department said.

Though there were reports last week that officials believed McCarty may have left home to meet up with someone he met online, the Sheriff's Department did not reveal more details on that Tuesday.

“We ask that each of you pray for Jacob’s father and all those involved in his life,” the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said in the social media post. "This is a devastating time and a hard road that follows for Jacob’s loved ones."

Recently, a 14-year-old Indiana girl who was missing since April was found safe with her relatives. Police said two of her relatives brought the teen to Florida so that she could be with her boyfriend.

Aaliyah Ramirez was last seen leaving her home on Parkway Drive in Syracuse on the morning of April 27 and was reported missing a short time later.
