Police in Michigan are seeking public help for information leading to the recovery of 15-year-old Kaylee Nicole Mathews.

Mathews was last seen at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at her family’s home in Davison, a city east of Flint. According to authorities, she had gotten into a dispute with her parents over her social media use prior to her disappearance.

“The parents of Kaylee Mathews had a conversation of some online social media activity. That conversation was what any parent would have to any of their kids that they love,” Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said Saturday at a press conference, with Mathews' parents standing behind him. “Shortly thereafter Kaylee walked out of the house and that was the last [time] that she’s been seen.”

Adding to the concern and difficulty of the case is the fact that Mathews left the house without her phone. Swanson said Mathews often posted on social media but has been inactive on her accounts since her disappearance.

Police have Mathews’ phone in their possession and have conducted a thorough search of its contents. According to Swanson, nothing in her photos or text conversation indicated any sort of desire to run away from home or any contact with someone who would force her to leave.

“She has not logged in. She has not contacted anybody,” Swanson said.

Swanson added that the FBI and state police have also been involved in the search.

Calls from International Business Times to the Genesee Sheriff's Office were not received.

Mathews is described as 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds. She has green eyes and long strawberry blonde hair. Mathews attended Davison High School.

There is a reward of $2,500 for her safe return.

Anyone with information pertaining to her case or whereabouts should call 911 or the Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County at (800) 422-5245.

Davison is located roughly 10 miles from Flint and has a population of about 5,000.
