State police in Pennsylvania are on the hunt for a teenage boy they say went above and beyond in making himself difficult to track. According to authorities, Kadin Kent Willauer, 13, of Milford Township, stole his family’s minivan and changed its license plate before running away from home.

Willauer was last seen leaving his home in Bucks County on Sunday at around 3:30 p.m. He drove away in his parents’ white 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and, at some point, seems to have swapped its license plate, likely in an effort to make himself harder to spot.

Willauer was observed by a surveillance camera filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Lehigh County, about 25 minutes after leaving his house. At the station, police say they observed him switching the plates in the footage. The new plate reads “ZGW 4969.”

Despite having the new plate number, police have still not found Willauer as of Wednesday, though he may have been spotted in Virginia. He is described as white, 5-foot-9 and 130 pounds. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and was wearing a black baseball cap, blue jeans, and a jacket when he was last seen. Police are told that he has experience riding ATV’s and is likely comfortable traversing wooded areas.

Willauer’s family said that there were no issues going on with their son that they believe would have caused him to run away. State Trooper Nathan Branosky described Willauer’s actions as “typical adolescent” behavior.

“Your family and support system really cares about you,” Branosky said in a statement, attempting to reach the boy.

Anyone with information about Willauer’s location is urged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at (215) 249-9191.

Milford Township is located roughly 45 north of Philadelphia.
