Conor McGregor may have retired from mixed martial arts action but remains up to date with the latest developments in the UFC. The Notorious, known for his arrogant attacks on other fighters, is at it again when he responded to a social media post of nemesis Nate Diaz.

The 35-year-old fighter praised Max Holloway and Rose Namajunas for the performance though he was not pleased with the former's loss to Alex Volkanovski. Holloway lost controversially to Volkanovski via unanimous decision and Diaz believes he got robbed. His tweet read:

"Shoutout to Rose and Max, they robbed Max tho but 100 to the real fighters out there."

Not long after, McGregor responded to the tweet but later on deleted it. The former UFC champion was technically telling Diaz to "shut up." Some fans were able to take a screenshot of his comment and such has sparked rumors of a potential third fight.

Diaz won over McGregor at UFC 196, dealing the Irishman the first loss of his career via submission. McGregor would even the score several months later at UFC 202 via majority decision. Since then, a trilogy has been suggested but never really progressed.

The only problem of seeing a Diaz vs. McGregor III is that The Notorious is technically retired. The Irishman announced via his Twitter account though not all were convinced this was the end of his UFC career.

One person who is not buying McGregor's retirement announcement is UFC president Dana White. He believes the two-division UFC champion will return at some point. And the earliest time he sees McGregor returning is 2021, Fox Sports reported.

"And I think he wants to … as of right now he's retired, but I wouldn't be surprised if he came out and wanted to fight somebody next year after all these different fights play out," White said.

McGregor is undoubtedly one of the cash cows of White and is not short on possible opponents. Aside from Diaz, he also has a storied rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Other names are being suggested but everyone (including White) knows that a trilogy fight with Diaz or a rematch with Nurmagomedov is something that UFC fans would love to see.
