A British woman has been banned from seeing her 19-year-old daughter for a year after she broke the teen's nose during an argument in the last holiday season.

Theresa Carroll, 39, was also ordered to pay her daughter, Chantelle Carroll, £500 ($660) in damages following the incident that occurred on Dec. 12 last year, Manchester Evening News reported.

The shop worker from Windsor Close, Bollington, had invited friends over to her home that day to watch a boxing match between British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and his Bulgarian counterpart, Kubrat Pulev, according to the outlet.

However, Chantelle, a sports science student at Nottingham Trent University, "became very aggressive" and "wanted the house to herself" after her mother picked her up from work, defense lawyer Peter Casson told Stockport magistrates.

"There was an argument, [Theresa] said she was having friends over to watch the boxing. She said it was her house and she would do as she pleased. She said her daughter had become more and more aggressive towards her. She said she asked her to leave but she would not leave. She said her daughter said, 'We are not having anyone around,'" prosecutor Nick Smart was quoted as saying.

Theresa called police after feeling "threatened," but Chantelle grabbed the phone, according to Smart. The mother reacted by grabbing her daughter's hair, punching her in the face and pulling her to the floor.

"Get out of my house," Theresa could be heard saying in a video of the incident, which Chantelle recorded. "Smile for the camera. I don't want to see you again!" the younger woman replied.

Theresa later left the house, and her daughter was taken to the emergency room in Macclesfield General Hospital, where she was treated for a broken nose.

Chantelle has not spoken to her mother since the attack.

Theresa regrets what happened and still cares about her daughter, Casson told the court. The mother wants their relationship to continue, the lawyer added.

"It was not her intention to have a fight with her. She was looking forward to having some friends around in the evening and everything would have been okay but her daughter had different ideas," the defense lawyer said.

Theresa, who pleaded guilty to undisclosed charges so Chantelle would not go through a trial, "wants to put this behind her and move on with her own life," according to Casson.

"[Theresa] wants to have her home for Christmas. She has presents to give her from last Christmas, her birthday and for this Christmas. But unfortunately, it seems this is not going to happen," he explained.

The mother of three said Chantelle "is welcome whenever she wants to come back," the lawyer added.

Aside from being ordered to pay damages and receiving a year-long restraining order, Theresa was ordered to complete a 12 community order, 120 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days. She must also pay £180 ($240) in costs and surcharges.

"You were provoked and we do not believe this was premeditated. You have also now lost your good character and you have shown remorse. However, this was not your finest hour. Regardless of what went on before, you broke your daughter's nose," magistrate Dominic Stone told Theresa.
